Katie Holmes pays tribute to NY punk band Ramones as she rocks vintage T

Katie Holmes showed off her allegiance to New York, and its hometown heroes the Ramones, when she showed off her unique style during an errand run in Manhattan.

The actress and director, 45, was the picture of casual-cool during her leisurely stroll dressed in black trousers with a matching cropped T-shirt with a picture of NY punk icons the Ramones on the front of it, which has been a staple of her for years.

The former Dawson's Creek star layered up with a brown cardigan that was a perfect match to her leather purse and belt.

Rounding out her overall look, the Toledo, Ohio native donned a pair of off-white Gucci loafers, and had her dark brown tresses styled long and flowing.

As the clouds began to give way to the glaring sun, Holmes slipped on a pair of cool dark sunglasses just before taking a phone call.

The fashionista has been seen out over the last several years wearing that Ramones shirt, which can be seen as a nod of respect to both the city and the band, who are often cited as the first true punk band.

They formed in the New York City neighborhood of Forest Hills, Queens in 1974, and went on to release 14 studio albums between 1976 and 1995.

Being that Holmes moved to Manhattan in 2012, The Gift star can be considered a New Yorker with some 12 years living in the Big Apple.

The protective mom and daughter Suri, 18, made the move from Los Angeles to NYC after she filed for divorce from ex-husband Tom Cruise, who is estranged from Suri, according to Page Six. 

The former couple started dating in April 2005, and then shortly after they became an item Holmes, who grew up Catholic, began studying Scientology.

The following month, Cruise professed his love for his new girlfriend publicly during an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, where he famously jumped on the couch while explaining their romance to the host.

Their daughter Suri was born in April 2006, which was followed by Tom and Katie's wedding that November.

Ultimately, Holmes filed for divorce from Cruise following her move to New York in June 2012 after five and a half years of marriage.

While neither side has spoken in depth publicly about their split, there has long been talk that Holmes's motivation was to free herself and her daughter from the grips of Scientology, as alleged by InStyle.
